The Pre-Professional Program, for children aged 7 to 18, is designed to form a well-rounded dancer with a strong foundation in classical ballet and appreciation for other dance genres. This program is for students who desire rigorous training and additional performance opportunities. All students in the Pre-Professional Program will participate in studio demonstrations and the Student Showcase.
Students in the Pre-Professional Program are expected to regularly attend all classes at their level in order to maintain consistent progress. Initial placement is determined in consultation with faculty and School Director. Promotion to the next level is determined by faculty based on age, ability, and technical readiness. Students spend at least one year, often two or more years, at a particular level before moving on to the next level.
Students Level 3 and above are expected to participate in the YPBT performing company which complements and accelerates the dancer’s technical training. Students audition for the company each fall. The company rehearses on Friday evenings or on Saturdays (and periodically both days), produces two main stage performances each year, and offers other smaller public performances each season.
